Wedding Photography Timeline Builder

Answer a few questions. I’ll recommend a photography start time, advise on First Look, and draft a timeline.
(If you skip a First Look, full family + full bridal party portraits are typically during cocktail hour. To attend cocktail hour fully, portraits usually need to happen before the ceremony and require a First Look.)

Basics

If you set a photographer end time below, the end time becomes the “hard stop.”
☀️ Sunset Ceremony Tip
Since your ceremony is close to sunset, plan to take portraits before the ceremony while the light is soft and natural. A First Look can make this possible and helps protect portrait time.
If set, the timeline will build from this exact start time.
If set, this becomes the fixed end time. Your chosen coverage length determines how far back we schedule the start.

These help shape the timeline around what matters most to you.

Getting ready & details

Adds a small cushion for walking/driving, parking, unloading, and resetting.
Count each time you move between addresses or rooms while getting ready.
Adds a cushion each time you change locations while getting ready.

First Look

What’s a First Look?
A First Look is a private moment before the ceremony when you and your partner see each other for the first time.

Couples who choose a First Look often use that time to:
• Share a quiet, intimate moment away from guests.
• Read private vows or exchange small gifts.
• Take couple portraits while hair & makeup are fresh.
• Complete family or bridal party photos early, freeing up cocktail hour later.

Couple portraits

If you want to attend cocktail hour fully, these portraits usually move before the ceremony (requires a First Look).

Cocktail Hour

Full family + full bridal party portraits before the ceremony usually require a First Look.
This affects when reception décor photos can happen.

Family / Friends Group Photos

If you want cocktail hour fully free, these usually need to happen before the ceremony.

Bridal party photos

If you’re planning to attend cocktail hour fully, bridal party photos are typically scheduled before the ceremony. Depending on your coverage, this may require additional time earlier in the day. This can take 25+ minutes depending on your bridal party size. If there isn’t enough time, the timeline will place these photos after the ceremony.
