Abigail & Elias

  • Abigail & Elias’ Overlook Barn Wedding in Banner Elk, NC

There are some wedding days that just feel peaceful from the very beginning, and Abigail and Elias’ wedding at Overlook Barn was one of them.

Overlook Barn is tucked up in the mountains near Banner Elk, North Carolina, with those wide-open Blue Ridge views that make everyone pause for a second when they arrive. It has that perfect mix of rustic and elegant — mountain air, open meadow space, white barn charm, and a feeling that the whole day is happening somewhere a little bit magical.

Abigail and Elias were such a joy to photograph. Their day felt heartfelt, relaxed, and full of the kind of moments I love most: quiet anticipation before the ceremony, family and friends gathering in the mountain air, soft little in-between glances, and the way everything seemed to slow down once they were finally together.

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings at Overlook Barn is how much variety the property gives you without having to go far. The mountain views are obviously stunning, but there are also so many smaller spaces that photograph beautifully — the barn, the meadow, the open sky, the wooden textures, and all the soft natural light that changes throughout the day.

For Abigail and Elias, the mountain backdrop felt like such a beautiful part of their story. It did not overpower the day. It simply held it. Their ceremony felt intimate and emotional, surrounded by the people who love them most, and the scenery made everything feel even more grounded and meaningful.

After the ceremony, we took time for portraits around the property, letting the views and the light do what they do best. I always love when couples give themselves a little breathing room in the timeline for portraits, especially at a place like Overlook Barn. The mountains can change so much depending on the time of day, and those few quiet minutes together often become some of the most meaningful photos from the entire gallery.

The reception was full of warmth, celebration, and all the little details that made the day feel personal to Abigail and Elias. From the emotional moments to the candid laughter, it was the kind of wedding that reminded me why I love photographing couples in the North Carolina mountains so much.

Abigail and Elias, thank you for trusting me to document such a beautiful day. Your wedding at Overlook Barn was such an honor to photograph, and I’m so grateful I got to tell a piece of your story.
